The Golden Strip, SC

The Golden Strip refers to an area in Southern Greenville county South Carolina, to include the cities of Mauldin, Simpsonville and Fountain Inn as well as the Census Designated Place (CDP) of Five Forks. The “strip” is the Interstate, I-385, which runs through the area. A stretch of I-385 is named “The Golden Strip Highway”.

The Golden Strip is neither a city nor CDP, it is a name that was given to the area years ago due to the expectation that the area was ripe for growth. The prediction came true as The Golden Strip has become a booming corridor.

Some businesses and institutions in this part of Greenville county use the words “Golden Strip” in their names, including Golden Strip Diner, Golden Strip Career Center, Golden Strip Glass and Golden Strip Learning Center.

The Greenville News publishes The Golden Strip edition of its newspaper which is distributed in print and online.
