Former legislator and senior executive assistant to the late Governor Carroll Campbell. Owned and operated BrettSC, a public relations company for 30 years. Active member, Sunday school teacher and deacon at Mauldin First Baptist Church. Active in prison ministry @ Perry Corrections through Kairos. Chaired the campaign to build the new Mauldin Library. Former President of the Mauldin Rotary Club. Currently co-chair LEAD, Law Enforcement Appreciation Day.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
Married to Rita Turner Brett for 44 years. Two children and 4 grandchildren.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
J Peters and Olive Tree.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
Since 1975 when I was a Mauldin Police Sargent.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Wayne Crick.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
Scotland. to see the friendliest people in the world again and play golf.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
Love God with all your heart and mind and love other people. You have a God in heaven that loves you.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Lead more people to Jesus.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Capri’s restaurant.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
Family community, great schools & churches.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
Retired.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I was able to negotiate a reciprocal SC Drivers License with France for Michelin employees traveling a living abroad.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Alaska.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
my Lord.

Q: Describe what “neighbor” means to you?
Friendly, loving and caring.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Happiness, safety & love.
