My name is Cynthia Latimore. I live in Mauldin SC. I am a retired Army Military Police woman with 26 years. I have owned my own business for going on 13 years selling veteran military caps, t-shirts, auto tags and other items since 2012. I sell as a vendor at the Greenville VA clinic. I also taught at elementary schools for the Greenville School district as a substitute teacher from 2001-2013. I was also a Correctional Officer for 8 years at Perry Correctional Institute. I was a part-time traveling labor strike security agent for Special Response Corporation from 2012-2020.

Q: Tell us about yourself, including a little bit about where you grew up, your education, your family, interests, passions, and career?
I attended Tec College and earned an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. I also went to Virginia College and earned a diploma in Medical Coding and Billing. I have a husband, Michael Latimore, and a brother who lives with us. My father name was Victor C. Latimer. He worked at GE plant for 30 yèars. Dad also dabbled in politics. Dad designed and was instrumental in the Lakeside Park being built. My mother passed when I was young. My interest is helping veterans. I am Past Chapter Commander for DAV Chapter 1, 2024-2025. I am also currently VFW District 4 Chaplain, 5 years in a row, I am Department of VFW SC, Student Veteran Association chairperson 2024-2025 and also VFW National Aide De Camp.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in The Golden Strip?
My passion is helping homeless veterans, making jewelry, reading. I have held offices as Jr Vice Commander for VFW post 6734, and. VFW post 6089 and Military Order of the Cooties and as well as DAV Chapter 1. I was also Sr. Vice Commander for DAV Chapter 1 and then Commander of Chapter 1.Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I am a great caregiver, and like helping veterans.Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in The Golden Strip?
The most interesting person I have met here in the Golden Strip is my late God-Mother Vivian Taylor. She taught me to believe in myself, and that I can be whatever I wanted to be and dream big. Also to put my faith in Jesus.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about The Golden Strip?
Kim’s beauty . It’s former but I bought boutique like clothes from her and wigs and accessories. She got me into glamor and fashions.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about The Golden Strip?
How much Greenville has grown from a small town to a Metropolitan City. A gorgeous town with all its businesses, places to live, eat , shop and have fun. It has a lot of nightlife with bars, lounges and bistros.

Q: With so much growth in our area, there are always new places popping up. Tell us about the a “new to you” place that you recently tried.
I love Tasty’s Soul Food restaurant.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME or NEIGHBOR?
Peace, Quiet, Comfort.

Q: If you had friends or family visiting you from out of town, what is the one place that you must take them to?
Taste’s Soul Food Restaurant.

Q: If you had a free day with no plans, what would you do? Or where can we find you on the weekends?
You would find me checking out the live bands entertainment at Mauldin Multicultural Park behind the center.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
I think I would choose Terrence Howard to be my Co-Star.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
To design my own jewelry.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
To put the lord and savior Jesus Christ in your life and have Faith and trust in him.
