I’m a native of the Golden Strip, and have lived here almost all my life. I’ve been teaching piano lessons for 20 years now! Please click HERE to connect with my piano lessons business page.  I homeschool my 3 kids and am very involved in the local homeschool community. My faith in God is the most important part of my life, and I spend many hours each week working with our church, Hallmark Baptist, on the worship team and as a videographer and editor of the sermons each week.

Q: Tell us about yourself, including a little bit about where you grew up, your education, your family, interests, passions, and career?
I was born in Greenville Memorial Hospital, and grew up in Fountain Inn and Simpsonville. I graduated from Hillcrest High in 2001, then attended Winthrop University for a short while before getting married to my highschool sweetheart. We were married at 19 and are still going strong 20 years later! We have 3 beautiful children, ages 16, 12, and 10, who I’ve been homeschooling for the last 12 years. I have varied interests. I’m a huge bookworm! I love music, and art, and baking. I had a home bakery for a while, but due to some health challenges I wasn’t able to keep it up. So, that’s just for fun now. I’m passionate about teaching the next generation to love music, and teaching them the skills they need to make music themselves.

Q: How long have you lived or worked in The Golden Strip?
All my life, except a couple years when we were first married. So, about 38 of my almost 40 years.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I’m usually reading 5-6 books at any given time.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in The Golden Strip?
My grandfather, Willard Ramsey. NASA engineer before the Mercury program, turned Baptist preacher. And the wisest and kindest person I ever met. He passed away in 2011, and I miss him tremendously.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about The Golden Strip?
Her Majesty. I used to get so much of my wardrobe there when I was little!

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about The Golden Strip?
The friendly, small town feel. Even though it’s growing so much lately, that feel is still there.

Q: With so much growth in our area, there are always new places popping up. Tell us about the a “new to you” place that you recently tried.
Bobby’s Barbeque. Best brisket I’ve ever had. No contest!

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME or NEIGHBOR?
Comfort, Love, Family.

Q: If you had friends or family visiting you from out of town, what is the one place that you must take them to?
Fountain Inn, if it’s Christmas time.

Q: If you had a free day with no plans, what would you do? Or where can we find you on the weekends?
A free day? I have 3 kids! Most Saturdays are filled with scouting activities, church youth group activities, friend’s birthday parties, or this time of year graduation parties.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
My husband, we play well off each other.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Traveling to Europe.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
Put your trust in God, and let him guide your path. He’s got a better grasp on the whole situation that we do!

Q: Who would you like to see nominated for this project, The Faces of The Golden Strip?
Jennifer Deese.
