I currently have the pleasure of serving as the Dean of the College of Business at Anderson University, where I run the College of Business and teach several courses including, Business Law, Professional Development and Strategic Human Resources. I also consult organizations and individuals on business performance. labor and employment issues. I serve on two corporate boards as well as the SC Chamber, Phyllis Wheatley Community Center, and Anderson Interfaith Ministries, Boards. I am a member of Fellowship Greenville church, where I am an usher and community group leader.

 

Q: Tell us about yourself, including a little bit about where you grew up, your education, your family, interests, passions, and career?
I was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC on my great grandfathers small family farm. I have degrees in Finance, Economics and law. I love to learn and share knowledge. I have been married to my wife Cathy for 43 years and we have two children, Michael and Anna. I have four grandchildren between the ages of 6 to 11. I enjoy cycling and working out. .

Q: How long have you lived or worked in The Golden Strip?
I’m lived in the Golden Strip since 1999 and love it.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
That I have qualified for the Senior Olympics three times, in cycling.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in The Golden Strip?
There are many people in the Golden Strip that are extremely interesting and talented. Among them is Ray Lattimore, the owner of Marketplace Staffing. Ray is not only a successful entrepreneur, but a great family man who gives back abundantly to the local community, and SC.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about The Golden Strip?
Hall’s Barber Shop. Its been around a long time and many men have had their hair cut there over the years.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about The Golden Strip?
It is a very diverse community, yet everyone is welcoming, like family.

Q: With so much growth in our area, there are always new places popping up. Tell us about the a “new to you” place that you recently tried.
Maverick Biscuit, which was very good.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME or NEIGHBOR?
Warm, Caring, Fun

Q: If you had friends or family visiting you from out of town, what is the one place that you must take them to?
I would take them for a drive up the watershed to Saluda and have brunch.

Q: If you had a free day with no plans, what would you do? Or where can we find you on the weekends?
Riding bikes with friends in the mountains.

Q: If you were cast into a major motion picture and had your choice of anyone to be your co-star, who would you choose?
Eddie Murphy

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Restore my grandfather’s 1949 Ford.

Q: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?
Not to worry about so many things and trust God to meet needs.
